Saturday 23rd May began at 5.30 a.m. when the early team came to Comet House for breakfast. The weather was perfect, sunshine and little wind. The challenge to build the Luton aeroplane was on.

Members of the Shakespeare Lions began the task of erecting four marquees and setting them out for the exhibitors.

At 9.00 a.m. the classic cars began to arrive and by 10.00 the plane was built and it was in place for the opening.

The event was held in partnership with a local company meeteatdrink Limited who have the lease on the Old Tramway Inn in Stratford upon Avon. The vehicles attending being from the 1930’s and the youngest from the 1970’s.

Also present on the day, Stratford Fancy Dress hire who decked out all who attended the event in clothes from the periods of time illustrated by the classic vehicles.

The mystery guest was the Luton Monoplane that was rebuilt in place within the challenge time. The plane is unique and has been owned by the British Airways pilot who flew the last Concorde in from America.

Visitors also were able to tour Comet House garden, open for the first time to the public. Stratford District Parenting Centre were on hand to run activities for children discuss with parents any issues that had on parenting.

The “Off the Shelf Players” presented Reminiscences of “War time Stratford” and the Hillside Gardens from War wick exhibited their garden history and examples of finds they had made. During the day Mr Chris Wall entertained those present with his gramophone records. Finally Forest Fireworks presented a history of Standard Fireworks in pictures.

Last but not least is the Tramway Inn One of the few remaining Victorian buildings in Stratford upon Avon providing a variety of food and hand pulled beers. The event ran from 10.00am until 4.30pm.

The event raised so far for WRAP £ 805.00 towards the delivery of reminiscence training .
